This website contains accumulated—and accumulating—images from my outdoor photography.
The site consists of dated posts as well as pages accessed from the Main Menu. I will appreciate comments and/or suggestions on either posts or pages.

This a photo our son Sam took of me in the Highlands of Scotland in 2018. In retirement I have been honored with the title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the University of South Carolina, as well as with the J. C. Harrington Medal from the Society for Historical Archaeology for my lifetime contributions to the field. (But, I’m anticipating a good bit more lifetime, and I hope to make a few more contributions as the future comes along 🙂 ) LF

This photo site and the companion blog, http://Lelandferguson.com, began when my dear wife, Aline, encouraged me to set up a website to promote a recent book. It came to being when my computer-skilled friend, Gary Ward, offered to coach and assist in creating the site. Later, the project evolved as my friends Irina Cromer and Kelly Goldberg suggested I write something autobiographical. Through the suggestions and help of these friends, I’ve found a platform to gather family and professional history for those who may be interested and to informally engage and write about my current interests. I also appreciate responses to this web site from our adult children, Sam Ferguson and Amy Ferguson Cook, who most always show encouragement for the various things, whacky and serious, their father sets out to do.
